 Soudal SPS Panel System

soudal-sps-adhesive-panel-system-elewacje-ventilowane-m3zioleksoudal_logo-elewacje-wentylowane-m3ziolekFull innovative Soudal SPS technology for interior and exterior wall panels, developed by Soudal specialists. Facades finished in the SPS system are durable and exceptionally aesthetic, because the panels are attached without the use of mechanical elements. In the Soudal Panel System wall panels are attached using special glue based on the innovative MS POLYMER® technology. MS polymers combine the advantages of silicones and polyurethanes and are free from defects. They provide high adhesion to various building materials with very high adhesion and resistance to extreme weather conditions. The use of SPS glue prevents visible holes and anchors. Flexible adhesive joints reduce the thermal work of the facade panels so that that they are not deformed or damaged. It also prevents the formation of thermal bridges and the transfer of noise and other vibrations to the building structure.

Application:

Soudal Panel System enables mounting HPL laminate boards or fibre-cement boards for a supporting substructure made of aluminium sections galvanized steel or wooden strips as well as natural stone and ceramic plates for structures made of aluminum sections.

The system consists of:

Flexible SPS adhesive – Chemically neutral product based on MS POLYMER® – resistant to ageing and weather-resistant. Free from silicones and isocyanates, they are flexible in a wide temperature range. The adhesive is available in standard 290 ml containers and 600 ml cartridges. The single-component PLC adhesive does not require pre-treatment. It comes directly from the package through a special tip using a manual or pneumatic mass extruder. soudal-sps-primer-panel-system-elevations-ventilated-m3ziolek

SPS Wood Primer – primer for wood – affects It has a beneficial effect on the adhesion of glue and mounting tape to wooden elements and protects wooden supporting structures against moisture and mould. soudal-sps-activator-panel-system-ventilated-facades-m3ziolek

SPS Activator</ strong> – preparation for activating non-porous substrates, e.g. metals, laminates, plastics. It acts as a cleaning and degreasing agent and improves adhesion.  soudal-sps-cleaner-czyscik-panel-system-elevations-ventilated-m3ziolek

SPS Cleaner – cleaning and degreasing agent for non-porous substrates. It is also used to remove stains from uncured glue.

soudal-sps-tape-tasma-dwustronnie-klejca-panel-system-elewacje-wentylowane-m3ziolekSPS Bonding Tape – double-sided adhesive assembly tape with very high bonding strength used for initial attachment of facade panels to the supporting frame for the time necessary for the adhesive joint to harden completely. The 3.2 mm thick tape limits the thickness of the adhesive joint and ensures an equal distance of the panels from the substructure.

USE OF SOUDAL PANEL SYSTEM

Conditions for use of the SPS system:

  • Ambient temperature should be + 10 ° C to + 30 ° C
  • Substrate temperature and bonding agent must not be lower than + 8 ° C
  • During gluing the temperature should not fall below + 5 ° C
  • Do not use in rain or rain
  • Facade panels should be attached to a ventilated, vertical frame structure
  • The distance between the individual frames of the frame must correspond to the manufacturer’s recommendations
  • The width of the external tape (i.e. the tape on which the panels are connected) should be at least 90 mm
  • The width of the remaining strips should be at least 70 mm

Preparation of the supporting frame structure:

Soudal Panel System can be used to attach panels to supporting frames made of wood, galvanized steel and aluminum. Preparation of the aluminum structure is as follows:

The supporting frame structure made of aluminum (AlMgSi0 5 F22 or F25 according to DIN 1748-1) should be cleaned and degreased with SPS Activator fluid. The panels can be glued after the SPS Activator has completely dried, i.e. after about 5 minutes.

Preparation of facade panels:
High-pressure laminate (HPL) boards. The bonded surfaces should be carefully cleaned and prepared with SPS Activator liquid. This is very important – SPS Activator must be used at every bonding point. The purpose of this product is to clean, degrease and activate the glue contact surface, which allows for very high adhesion. SPS activator should be applied to the substrate with a paper towel. Wait about 5 minutes for the SPS activator to dry completely.

Fiber – cement, ceramic and natural stone boards. The surfaces of all porous boards should be primed with SPS Primer. Shake the can of primer thoroughly before use and then apply a thin but covering layer of primer with a brush or roller. Leave to dry for at least 60 minutes. Glue the boards within 24 hours of applying the primer.

SPS Bonding Tape

SPS adhesive tape is a double-sided adhesive tape with very high adhesion strength, 12 mm wide and 32 mm thick. Its purpose is to provide an initial coating for the time necessary for the adhesive to fully cure. SPS adhesive tape ensures a correct and constant thickness of the adhesive layer by 3 mm. SPS adhesive tape should be glued to the vertical supporting frame after the starter has dried.

Securing panels in the SPS system

We start fixing the facade panels by gluing the SPS Bonding Tape to the strips. The tape is used for initial fixing of the facade panels to the supporting frame for the time necessary for the adhesive joint to fully cure. Apply the adhesive to the previously prepared surfaces. Use the special applicator tip to obtain the appropriate V-shaped tape. Correctly applied triangular adhesive tape should be 8 mm wide and 12 mm high. The adhesive should be applied in a continuous strip on the vertical frame of the supporting frame, maintaining the spacing shown in the drawings. The tape should be at least 8 mm above the surface of the tape. After applying the adhesive to the surface of the panels, the SPS tape can be removed from the parchment. The panel should be ironed into the adhesive strips within 10 minutes after application to the frame to prevent the formation of a skin on the adhesive tape. The elevation panel is set in the correct position and then pressed against the supporting frame, thus causing it to come into contact with the SPS Bonding Tape. Once the panel has come into contact with the adhesive tape, no corrections to its position are possible. Excess fresh glue on the boards can be easily removed with SPS Cleaner.
