umwelt_equitone

For over 100 years, architects have been using Eternit facades in the designs of the most important buildings in the world. Many of these buildings now have a permanent place in the history of architecture, some of them have been distinguished with prestigious architectural awards. New Eternit products offer interesting possibilities for continuing this noble tradition in architecture. Non-flammable Eternit fibre cement panels (material class A2) can be used for any type of building. They are suitable for installation at any height and can also be used as balcony panels. They are available in a mass-coloured version, with a matt coloured translucent coating (Natura) and with an intensive coloured external coating – Textura (Structura). In addition, we have a wide range of fastening systems with aluminium brackets (Eternit-Pikto), edge profiles (Eternit-Linar) and stainless steel elements (Eternit-Naxo). The panels can also be glued or invisibly mounted using dowels with a rear groove (Eternit-Tergo). On the following pages you will find project inspiration and a practical guide describing the construction and implementation methods. The examples show an administrative building, a laboratory, a school, a kindergarten and a residential building. All projects are interesting in terms of aesthetics, construction and economy. Material: fiber cement (EN 12467).Coating: highly covering, UV-resistant and environmentally friendly pigments used, multiple coats of pure acrylic with introduced thread-like fiber, fixation of the top layer using the TopCoat method, hot-applied paint coating.Surface: grainy, low dirt adhesion.Colors: 15 standard colors, with the possibility of free selection of a special shade, whenever technically possible.Thickness: 8 mm, 12 mm.Format: maximum usable size 3100 × 1500 mm.Building material class: non-flammable, in accordance with DIN 4102 – A2 (A2-s1, d0 EN 13501-1).Application: ventilated facades for all types of buildings and for all building heights.Fixing on an aluminum substructure: Eternit, Eternit-Tergo, Eternit-Naxo facade rivets, adhesive system.Fixing on a wooden substructure: Eternit, Eternit-Naxo facade screws. The special colored coating of the Textura (Structura) facade panel allows for a fascinating pattern with vivid colors. Miniature balls on the surface of the panel significantly reduce dirt adhesion. These balls break the surface tension of rainwater, which causes the water to drip in droplets instead of running, as is the case with smooth surfaces, on which streaks usually form.

Eternit-Tergo is a facade system designed for invisible attachment from the rear side to aluminium substructures. The system consists not only of high-quality facade panels, individually cut and equipped with drilled holes with a rear groove, but also of special rear-cutting plugs from Eternit, together with matching screws and washers.Eternit-Tergo has been approved for use by the building supervision and can be freely shaped, up to the full size of the facade panels, which is 3100 × 1500 mm in the case of Textura (Structura) panels or 3100 × 1250 mm in the case of Natura panels. The 12 mm thick panels can be attached to the aluminium substructure using agraffes or plate carrier profiles from the rear. The red-coloured Natura panels were attached using the Eternit-Tergo façade system, with attachment from the rear, to the building of the District Office for Environmental Protection in Augsburg. Design: Kaup, Scholz, Jesse + Partner, Munich. The force is transferred via a rear-grooved expansion plug, placed in a pre-drilled blind hole, on the rear side of the 12 mm thick fibre cement panel.

Eternit-Naxo ®

eternit-naxo2

Eternit-Naxo is a combination of two high-quality materials: fibre cement and stainless steel. For fastening to wooden or aluminium substructures, the appropriate solid Naxo element is used together with a stainless steel screw or a stainless steel or aluminium rivet. The fibre cement panels are framed with a sealing tape made of polished stainless steel. The wide choice of geometric shapes of the Naxo elements remains unlimited. In addition to the shapes shown here, other variants can be implemented. Eternit-Naxo elements accentuate the façade made of fibre cement panels on a residential and office building in Hamburg. Design: Architektenbüro Horst Reincke, Hamburg.Selected Eternit-Naxo elements:Wide cone: diameter34 / 13 mm, maximum height24 mm.Narrow cone: diameter20 / 13 mm, maximum height20 mm.Cylinder: diameter16 mm, maximum height25 mm.

Laying on the overlap

euronit_on_the_bookmark
Equitone mount

The overlapping arrangement is one of the possibilities of giving the façade optical depth and structure. The divisions of the façade can be adapted to individual needs. The overlapping arrangement is characterised by its extraordinary versatility. It is possible to use various variants. By making small changes, completely new effects can be achieved. The horizontal arrangement on an aluminium or wooden substructure is reminiscent of traditional forms of rural development. Larger panels emphasise the abstract character of the building. The horizontal shaded joint can be increased by means of spacers between the panels. On the residential and office building in Oranienburg, the work of architects Gruber + Popp, the overlapping formwork made of white Natura façade panels gives the northern façade an unexpected three-dimensionality of the body, which is additionally emphasised by the deeply indented windows. The embedded panels are invisibly fixed and fastened in a stepped manner. This creates a delicate graphic impression of shadow, which is additionally enhanced by the cobalt blue joints. Design: Gruber + Popp, Berlin. The overlap formwork can be attached to an aluminum or wooden substructure in a visible or invisible way. The plastic effect of the façade can be further enhanced by an increased joint, thus creating a stronger line of falling shadow.

renovation of the ventilated facade euronit
equitone_realization2

Renovation of residential buildingsThe main goal of facade renovation is to preserve the character of the building and improve the quality of the apartment. A ventilated facade meets the high requirements for facades and is a long-term solution if you want to achieve better thermal insulation combined with meeting the requirements of building physics. The use of an aluminium substructure allows you to equalise the tolerances of the building. In the example of the renovation of a residential building at the United Nations Square in Berlin, we can see how coloured panels were used to connect windows in pairs and give the facade the right look. The balconies and the surfaces of the facade under the windows were covered with light-coloured panels, as were the side walls. The six stepped window sections were highlighted by the colours and structure of the Textura (Structura) facade panels used, with these strips also combining into one whole. Colour scheme: Hans Albrecht Schilling, Bremen.Examples of facade renovation: Fischerinsel multi-storey residential buildings, Berlin. Mendelssohnviertel housing estate, Berlin.
