Construction of two buildings   on the premises of the Warsaw Zoo  – a building for Protected Birds and a building for Reptiles.

Our company’s scope included: preparation of the assembly project of the ventilated façade, delivery of a complete set of materials, assembly.   On the elevation of both buildings, fibre-cement boards were used in two different types of surfaces – as boards imitating wooden boards with a grain surface, painted by the manufacturer in 3 different colours, and as large-sized flat boards used on the attics of the building. Both the boards imitating boards and the flat boards are fastened mechanically with rivets.

The boards imitating wood were designed in architecture in a vertical arrangement, with the use of alternating colors, and with the arrangement of the boards in an ‘overlapping’ manner, so that the external surface of the elevation is very interestingly diversified, in a delicate way, but giving the buildings their unique character. The entire building is clearly closed and connected into an inseparable whole by the surrounding black attic band made of smooth boards. Small details appearing on the elevation, and necessary for use, such as the aviary for animals, window splays, ladders, were made of coated or galvanized sheet metal so that they blend in synchronously with the entire composition of the building.
